Solar Park South was a competition looking for design ideas for the sustainable redevelopment of various highways in the south of Italy. The design winning the competition, available in the images below, takes ordinary bridges or viaducts and transforms them into living cities. Each pillar of the bridge would therefore have a whole structure of apartments built around it, and the idea itself is great, although actually putting it in practice could prove to be a lot more challenging. The Solar Park South winners are Off Architecture, PR Architecture and Samuel Nageotte. Their joint project, if ever turned into reality, would offer a totally new, out-of-the-box, building concept. In fact we might be looking today at some of the sky scrapers of the future, so, what do you think? Would you get an apartment under such a viaduct?
