Integrating a whimsical twist into a basic necessity, California-based designer Richard Neeley converts more than 40 literary greats and contemporary novels into charging docks for iPhones and iPods. From Austen, Bronte, Kipling and Shakespeare to current bestsellers such as the Harry Potter series — not to mention kitschy vintage cookbooks and chess instruction manuals — Neeley hand-crafts each charger and renders it compatible with all iPods and 3G, 3GS and 4G iPhones. The docks are created from a selection of recycled antique tomes and fresh new editions; rather than chasing down cords from behind your furniture each time you charge, simply plug your device into the classic (or soon-to-be-a-classic) of your choice. Each dock accommodates sync and charge functions via USB cable, blending function and form under chic literary camouflage. Although a wall cord isn’t included, it’s a simple addition to a clever objet-d’art-turned-daily lifesaver.
